Summer 2020 Travel Trends

Before we know it Christmas will be over and we’ll be looking to the new year. We’ll be moaning about how cold it still is and thinking about where to take ourselves next year.

Let’s take a look at what we think will be the Summer 2020 travel trends.

Will 2020 be another year of staycationing?

2019 saw 69% of us stay in the UK (Travelmole) for the main summer holiday, with Cornwall remaining the top UK destination for a fifth year running! The uncertainty of, dare we say it, Brexit had many of us thinking it would be best to stay in good old Blighty.

With that uncertainty very much still hanging over us we think that 2020 may take the same trend, and we’re hoping just as many of you venture down to Cornwall for your summer 2020 holiday.

Bring your pets

According to Booking.com’s predictions, 2020 is the year that we’ll see more pet-centric holidays with over 55% of per owners saying that their pet(s) are just as important as their children.

We see more and more families bringing their pets to The Bay Talland on holiday. Many of our homes are suitable and pet friendly for our four legged, furry friends. And Cornwall is such a dog friendly destination. You’ll find that most pubs and restaurants are dog friendly, leaving out bowls of water and treats for them to snack on.

Grandparent holidays

Booking.com have also predicted that they will be more grandparents taking the grandkids away on holiday, giving the parents a much needed break. According to the article 72% of grandparents agree that spending time with their grandkids keeps them feeling young and they also believe that parents need alone time without the children,

Multi-generational breaks

The past few years has also seen many of us holidaying with multi generations. Taking the grandparents away on holiday has it’s benefits.

You get the quality time all together as a family unit and you also have babysitters on tap so you can enjoy some much needed couple time. It can also be a great way to split the cost of a holiday.

We’ve seen many families coming to stay and celebrate milestone birthdays with us. It’s such a joy to see the whole family enjoying time away together.

Why book in January?

Traditionally, January is the best time to book a Summer holiday. Everyone has a bit of the January blues, it’s the first pay day since Christmas, and we all want something to look forward to.

All the big travel companies have their adverts out from boxing day and while we’re not a big travel agent, we do see a surge in bookings in January. We recommend booking early to secure your summer 2020 holiday, especially if you are booking weeks in the school summer holidays as theses are highly sought after.

The great thing about booking in January is you can pay a deposit and pay the rest off as and when you can, as long as the final balance is paid 6 weeks before you are due to arrive.

Take a look at availability or contact us if you have any questions.

We hope you enjoyed our Summer 2020 travel trends.
